A Change of Heart: Maybelline Falsies Review…?!

A while back I posted briefly about how much I didn’t like (the word hate may have even been used) Maybelline’s Falsies mascara in Black Drama, the waterproof formulation. I stand by what I said AT THAT TIME, however, I am now a firm believer that the mascara changes completely after being exposed to air. I believe an ingredient (or 2 or more) oxidizes within the mascara and changes the consistency. I have used it the past week and LOVE the results. I really wish I wouldn’t have bought the waterproof formula, but I’m getting used to it. This mascara gives great volume, and separates my lashes. The color is very dark, not quite “Carbon Black” but definitely a true black, and not a dark grey like my Loreal Double Extend sometimes comes out. I’m not a huge fan of the brush, I feel it looks, for lack of a better word, gross. It seems like the tip is about to break off because of the way it’s made. I don’t like the packaging, I think its cheap and tacky, but all the Maybelline Volume Express one’s look this way. That being said, those are the only cons I can think of, and in reality: 1. Packaging doesn’t really matter in relation to the mascara itself 2. The tip feels like its going to break off because it’s flexible, and no, it won’t break off. 3. The mascara itself goes on great despite the brush seeming odd. Sooo, my opinion has changed COMPLETELY about this mascara. This has actually happened another time, with Loreal’s Double Extend Mascara…I used to HATE it, and now I really like it (except for the dull gray color thing that was previously mentioned) So my advice: don’t knock a mascara until you’ve used it consistently for a week. If you still hate it, it’s probably not the mascara for you, but try and hold out for a week, because you might be pleasantly surprised;) ~Rachel
